Western Bay of Plenty District Council 

Dogs that become available for adoption from the Western Bay of Plenty District Council pound shelter can be seen on the Western Bay Animal Services Facebook page. They can also be seen on Trade Me under the Council's account linked here.

Enquiries regarding dog adoption are welcomed. They can be made via email or via the online expression of interest form linked here. Meet and greets are by appointment and are encouraged.

The Western Bay of Plenty Council pound shelter also run a dog fostering program for which foster homes are greatly appreciated. The application form to become a foster home can be found here.

Tauranga City Council 

Dogs that become available for adoption from the Tauranga City Council pound shelter can be seen on the Tauranga Animal Services Facebook page.

The pound is open from 9 am – 4:30 pm on Mondays, 2 pm - 4:30 pm Tuesday to Friday, and is located at 88 Hewletts Road, Mt Maunganui. Appointments are not necessary if visiting during this time. Enquiries regarding dog adoption are welcomed. Meet and greets are encouraged.

The pound is open from 9.15 am - 9.30 am & 4 pm - 4.30 pm Monday to Friday and is located on St John Street, Opotiki.
